Join our Grassroots Effort - Attend the Rent Control Hearing

SB 5222 is scheduled for a hearing that would establish “rent control” measures that are currently illegal in Washington State.

We encourage all our members to attend this hearing and defend your rights. It is imperative that we prevent harmful legislation from becoming law.

SUMMARY OF SB 5222

7% cap
180 day notice for 3% increases
1.5% cap on late fees
⁠Local governments can adopt rules and enforce, CPA violation
Can’t give preferable terms for longer lease periods
⁠Limits move in and security deposit combined to 1 months rent
⁠Exemption in first 10 years of certificate of occupancy.

RHAC will be hosting an online and in-person briefing room with our government affairs team before the hearing begins.

We will provide transportation, with pickup locations in Seattle and Tacoma. There are a limited number of seats available for transport, so act quickly if you would like to participate. You must reserve your seat if you are not driving yourself.

If you plan on attending our in-person briefing, but would rather meet us in Olympia, please feel free to do so; however, we still encourage you to register on this page.
