Spend your required clock-hours wisely learning what you need to know from attorney Chris Benis and do it whenever and wherever you want. Our 7 Clock Hour ONDEMAND course on WA State and Local Laws is now available for purchase at here.

Completion of this course counts toward continuing education requirements for licensed Washington Real Estate Brokers. A downloadable certificate will be available at course completion. Course must be completed within 90 days of purchase date.

Section 1: Washington Landlord-Tenant Law (3-hours)

Instructor: Chris Benis

Lecture and discussion providing an overview of the Residential Landlord-Tenant Act, RCW 59.18 including recent changes as of 2020. See "Additional References" for corresponding written materials. Laws pertaining to the life-cycle of tenancy are outlined, including:

  • The rental agreement and security deposit
  • Landlord and tenant duties
  • Remedies to enforce the rental agreement
  • Various aspects of termination of tenancy

Section 2: Expansion of Local Rental Laws (3-hours)

Instructor: Chris Benis

Lecture and discussion exploring the rise and spread of local rental laws from one jurisdiction to another. See "Additional References" for corresponding written materials. Various types of local laws are reviewed including:

  • Rental Registration and Inspection
  • Termination Limited to Just Causes
  • Rental Agreement Regulations
