Volunteering with RHAWA – Education
Did you know that volunteering is one of the most beneficial actions we can take as human beings? Not only do we help needy organizations around the world, but volunteering offers a ton of personal benefits to our health and well-being as individuals. According to VolunteerHub (volunteerhub.com/blog/25-volunteer-statistics), our ability to provide our time and expertise can make an immense difference in the world around us and within our communities.
Volunteers are worth on average $24.14 an hour according to an Independent Sector Study (independentsector.org/news-post/value-volunteer-time); and let’s be honest – most non-profit and not-for-profit organizations rely heavily on Volunteers to reach their goals each year. There are over 1.8 million active non-profit organizations that benefit from people just like you! In fact, over 63 million Americans volunteered 87 billion hours of their time, talent, and effort to improve their communities in 2017.
RHAWA also depends on volunteers to successfully reach our goals each year. Our volunteers provide articles for our CURRENT newspaper, participate in our Poltical Action Committee and Legal Defense Fund, and help to moderate, facilitate or teach online classes.
One of the best benefits we have for you as a member is to teach a class on your area of expertise. Are you a Home Inspection professional? We’d love to have you teach a class on everything to look out for when purchasing new investment properties. A Real Estate Broker for HUD, Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac? You can offer a class on the best practices for buying foreclosed homes to Flip and rent. A class on the paperwork alone could be beneficial to new Investors. And you may pick up a new client along the way! We are always looking for new and innovative class topics – so don’t be afraid to contact us with your ideas!
Our class instructors are provided with adult learning training, all the class materials required, and will work with your schedule. All we ask is for you to provide an enthusiastic and engaging experience for your fellow members. Do you have experience with group facilitation, great communication skills, and can act as a representative of RHAWA – then we want you!
If you’re not available as a class instructor, we also have a volunteer position as a contributor. We rely on your knowledge and expertise in your industry to help us build and maintain curriculum and other educations resources. We publish and produce all materials, citing and recognizing all of your contributions. A great way to show your support of RHAWA while getting some brand recognition to our members.
We need LINK Meeting hosts! Each month we offer a networking opportunity for our members. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, these meetings will occur online through the end of the year. Eventually LINK Meetings will take place in area restaurants and give members a chance to mix and mingle with other like-minded professionals. Attendees discuss various rental operations topics each month. As a host you may lead the discussion yourself, and / or invite an expertise in the industry to speak.
Don’t forget that our classes and events are open to non-members as well – so your reach is even greater than our membership base. Classes are advertised weekly via email and social media – reaching over 5,000 individuals. On average 20 - 30 individuals attend online classes, with our highest attendance in 2020 at 137 individuals.
